Welcome to the Hard Luck Café

Selected songs

These are studio recorded demos with the exception of Divorced White Male and Time and Again Reprise, which were recorded live at the Thespis Theatre Festival. Unending thanks to music producer Jeff Severson who brought many of the song demos to life through his creative genius and masterful guitar work. Many of these songs have now been arranged as duets, trios and for the ensemble. Thank you to arrangers Zak Sandler, Jeff Severson, Jonathan Tuzman, Trevor M. Pierce, Matthew Brown and Paul Raiman for piano scores. (For video performances of these arrangements, click on Workshop Songs above.) I’m grateful to the artists who generously recorded our demos: Amy McWilliams, Miss Kitty, Amy Conley, the late, great Julia Nixon, Eric Townsend, Emily Everson Gleichenhaus, Sally Swan, Ben Mason, June Maxim, Lonny Smith, Aimee Barnes, Janice Landry, Chris Darden and Justin Richie. For the two songs captured during the live performance in New York, thanks to Melissa Broder, Janice Landry, and Alexis Tidwell (Divorced White Male) and Joel Hurt Jones and Melissa Broder (Time and Again Reprise).
